The Final Thyroidectomy Pathology Report

Diagnosis:
1. Thyroid, right thyroid lobectomy
          A. Incidental papillary microcarcinoma (0.1 cm in greatest dimension).
          B. Surgical margins of excision negative for evidence of lesion.
          C. No evidence of capsular invasion identified.
          D. Severe chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis with follicle formation, consistent with Hashimoto's thyroiditis.
          E. One (1) lymph node, negative for evidence of malignancy.

2.  Thyroid, left thyroid lobectomy:
          A. Patchy moderate to severe lymphosytic thyroiditis, consistent with Hashimoto's thyroiditis.
          B. Four (4) lymph nodes, negative for evidence of malignancy.

Basically they found a tiny bit of cancer, but I was told that if I was going to be diagnosed with cancer, this would be the type to have.  The cells around the cancer were noncancerous, which is comforting for what it is.  I have to follow up with another specialist to see if I need any further treatments.
